13 months approaching

I'm a slacker... I know this.

Micah is now a year old. 13 months on the 5th. Time has gone by very quickly and I haven't posted much of anything. I'll just give you the highlights and maybe a picture or two.

Walking... Nay! I say! Nearly running and the owner of two pairs of Pumas, a pair of Adio, and some velcro sneakers that Britt says make him look sort of grocery-store chic.
Eating!! He's eating food! He loves spaghetti, PB&J, even chili. The kid pretty much eats whatever I eat... which is great because I'm not the mac n' cheese/hot dog type.
Nursing! YES! He is STILL nursing! And we're happy and plan to keep in that way! If you have something to say about it, my response is, "My kid is going to be WAY smarter than yours."
He won't drink milk. Hm. Probably because he knows where REAL milk comes from.
He throws fits. Not so pleasant. Where did he get that attitude from?
He's a dancing machine!
He plays a mean keyboard!
He still sleeps with us and still wakes up frequently during the night. That's okay. The family bed is a real thing people. And not just for "people who live in huts."

I think that's about all for the highlights. I'm working at the bakery and waiting tables and managing at 206 again. Fun times. Micah stays home with Dad during the day, and with me in the evenings while Quentin is at work. It's working out well. He rarely has to stay with a sitter, he hasn't been sick since early this spring, and I plan to keep it this way.

So... long story short...

I love him, and he's amazing!

he crawls.

he climbs.

he screams, laughs, crawls, and climbs some more!

my boy is a wild child in the making.

if there's something that this kid loves more than the boob, it's the bath tub.

he ABSOLUTELY LOVES to take baths.

he's also discovered the joy of the swimming pool. it's like a big bath tub that you float in and you can make extra big splashies!!!

Crawl very quickly
Pull himself up to stand.
Jump like a professional basketball player.
Dance like Pee Wee Herman... TEQUILA!
Bang, Bang, Bang on the drum.
Bite me with his two little teeth! Ouch!
Give slobbery kisses! Muah!
Sit up on his knees.
Sit up on his bottom.
Sit up in the bath tub.
Tear shit up! Yeah!
Laugh at silly faces.
Pick things up with his thumb and forefinger.
Drop some major bombs. Man he has some killer gas!
SCREAM!!!!
Act CR-A-ZY!

He can do all of these things and more. Far too many things for me to list here. We laugh and play every day. I'm happy to have him in my life. I love him with all of my heart.

She's Back

They wanted to pump poisons into Sushi's veins. That wasn't cool. She's back now... and driving me SLIGHTLY nuts. She really needs a home. She needs someone who can pay her the attention she deserves.

A Very Sad Day

i handed sushi over to the southern pines animal shelter today. less than an hour ago. i'm heartbroken. i was incapable of providing her with the things that she needed: shots, preventatives, trips to the vet. it takes a lot of money, energy, and love to give proper care to a pet and over the last 6 months, i've been unable to do that for her. it was hard turning her over, but i'm hoping, hoping, hoping that she's adopted by someone. they have me listed to call if they need to put her to sleep. i don't want that to happen. if that happens, i'll go back and pick her up. she deserves more than that... which is the main reason that i've held out for so long. i've had her for almost 3 years. from the time that she was about 7 weeks old. she WAS my baby. my companion. the one that continued to love me no matter what... genuine and true. part of me hopes that they call... that the phone will ring next week and they'll ask me to come back and get her. i know that there has to be SOMEONE out there that wants her... that can give her a good home. right now, i can't do it... and it hurts my heart.

Micah's grown a lot. Apologies for not posting in a while, but here are some pictures:

He's been crawling for a few weeks now. He's made incredible progress and I'm proud of how advanced he is! He's so smart... and I know everyone thinks that their kid is smart, but hey... take my word for it.

He wasn't drinking the beer... I promise.

There are more pictures, but apparently xanga sucks at the moment. I promise that it won't be two months before I upload more... that is... if anyone still reads these things.

... where i want to be.

i'm back in hattiesburg. things are okay i guess. micah's having a hard time adjusting... so am i.

i'm supposed to be looking for a job.

it's depressing to think about sending him to daycare... esp. when he's having so much trouble with bottles and his sleep schedule is totally screwed up...

i have no experience with daycare. i'm not sure what to expect... but i'm not looking forward to this at all. he's so small and vulnerable... and he's already thrown out of wack by the trip to kansas and back. i feel really bad.

i don't understand why i have to be so unhappy about things all of the time. no, i don't have postpartum. no, this isn't something new.

i should be happy to be here and i'm not. i miss my family. i feel terrible about my mom not being able to see micah. she's heartbroken. i just pulled him up and took him away... and i think he realizes it.

i just feel sick.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to post and say that Al's dad is doing better. They're just waiting it out. He's not sedated anymore, and after playing some of his favorite music on headphones, he's begun to open his eyes. Everything looks pretty promising, but they're still waiting to hear from the neurologist. Physically, he could make it. They have no idea exactly what state his brain is in. Hopefully, he continues to make progress. We're not ready to lose him yet.

The baby has been sick for a few days. I finally got him to fall asleep around 12:30 this morning. He's sleeping now. He woke up at 4am with one eye crusted shut and and crusty nose, but he's breathing well now. I think he's hit the crest and is on his way back to perfect health. I'm glad. We don't have him covered under health insurance... only Medicaid. If we were to go to Topeka and he developed the flu, we probably wouldn't be able to pay for it.

That's about all. Like I said, we leave on Monday. I doubt I'll be posting anymore this weeeknd unless something significant takes place. So, I'll see ya when I see ya.

Kansas Bound

I was planning on leaving for Kansas on Dec. 13th, but because of a family emergency, I'll be leaving Hattiesburg on Monday. My stepdad's father had a heart attack last night and is in the hospital.

This only seems fitting:
In the news today, there was an article about a woman kicked off of a plane for breast-feeding. How appropriate?
