13 months approaching

 I'm a slacker... I know this.

Micah is now a year old.  13 months on the 5th.  Time has gone by very quickly and I haven't posted much of anything.  I'll just give you the highlights and maybe a picture or two.

  • Walking... Nay! I say! Nearly running and the owner of two pairs of Pumas, a pair of Adio, and some velcro sneakers that Britt says make him look sort of grocery-store chic.
  • Eating!!  He's eating food!  He loves spaghetti, PB&J, even chili.  The kid pretty much eats whatever I eat... which is great because I'm not the mac n' cheese/hot dog type.
  • Nursing!  YES! He is STILL nursing!  And we're happy and plan to keep in that way!  If you have something to say about it, my response is, "My kid is going to be WAY smarter than yours."
  • He won't drink milk.  Hm.  Probably because he knows where REAL milk comes from.
  • He throws fits.  Not so pleasant.  Where did he get that attitude from?
  • He's a dancing machine!
  • He plays a mean keyboard!
  • He still sleeps with us and still wakes up frequently during the night.  That's okay.  The family bed is a real thing people.  And not just for "people who live in huts."
I think that's about all for the highlights.  I'm working at the bakery and waiting tables and managing at 206 again.  Fun times.  Micah stays home with Dad during the day, and with me in the evenings while Quentin is at work.  It's working out well.  He rarely has to stay with a sitter, he hasn't been sick since early this spring, and I plan to keep it this way.

So... long story short...

I love him, and he's amazing!

God, he is absolutely STUNNING, Sondra.  He is obviously so loved and cherished and healthy!

I was wondering if you are not getting a lot of neighborhood/ family/ friend support for your choices re: sleeping in the same be & nursing.  I ask b/c you seem to expect criticism about it.  If you are, I am really sorry!  I myself subscribe to the notion that what a family does to raise a child is none of my business until I have reasonable proof of abuse.

Out here in CA loads of people nurse for longer than one year, and loads of families find that the "family bed" is right for them.  As far as baby-feeding goes, I get way more static from people of my race and class for formula feeding that I do for breastfeeding.  In fact, the only nasty comment I've ever received was about bottle feeding (Oh, your poor baby wants mama's milk not that old stuff!).  Maybe it's the area, I don't know.

Great pictures.  He's gorgeous :)  Sondra, seriously, props for nursing still; I think that's great! Micah is blessed with such a great Mom :)
